We cannot do this with our current financial status; Our card rooms have provided the majority of money for the city, which we will always be grateful and will work with them for years to come, but we must diversify our income so that we are not reliant on one source. The city staff and I will work tirelessly to bring in other business and industry to the city. Expanding the junction and growing the downtown.
We have seen the La Center School district at our council meetings keeping the community informed on what is happening there for the last several months. I believe that the future of La Center lies with our children, so I want to expand that and work with them; assist them where we can and support their needs as much as possible.
I have seen a divide for the last couple of years between our community organizers and the city. I want to mend this and help them both achieve their goals. The city and I will work with these people to make sure Our Days, the Christmas Festival, Meals on Wheels and other events are the best in Clark County. Communities that work closely together, thrive, which makes them the strongest and most desirable.
I would like to thank the Cowlitz Tribe for their generosity. Donating almost $200,000 to La Center Schools is extraordinary and humbling. Goodwill like this should always be commended, it makes me excited to work with Chairwoman Patty Kinswa-Gaiser and the rest of the council, to build a lifelong partnership with them.
I have said since 2018, one of La Center’s greatest resources is our outdoors. I have made my wish list known in several meetings over the years as some of you know. I would like to expand our trail system so that it will bring hikers and mountain biking from all over the county, a true boat launch for non-motorized vehicles and a dock system for those to use. I would also like to look at installing turf at our baseball fields and building a soccer field for the kids to host leagues on.
Our community is growing and with it comes many obstacles, not being a career politician, I know I will still have a lot to learn but I am up for the task at hand. Thank you for your consideration.
